How Simultaneous Interpretation Works
A simultaneous interpreter works in a soundproof booth and translates the speaker's speech with a 2–4 second delay. Listeners receive the translation through headphones (infrared or radio receivers). The interpreter simultaneously listens to the original and speaks the translation — this is one of the most complex forms of intellectual work.
Simultaneous interpreters always work in pairs: every 20–30 minutes, one interpreter relieves the other. This isn't a luxury — research shows that translation quality drops critically after 30 minutes of continuous work.
When Simultaneous Interpretation Is Needed
- Conferences and forums — from 50 participants, multiple presentations in succession
- High-level negotiations — when every minute counts
- Online events — webinars, streams with foreign speakers (via Zoom, Teams)
- Court hearings — with participation of foreign parties
- Product presentations — before an international audience
When Consecutive Interpretation Is Sufficient
Consecutive interpretation — the interpreter listens to a speech segment (1–3 minutes) and then translates. Takes twice as long but requires no equipment or booth. Suitable for:
- Business meetings with up to 10 people
- Tours and delegation accompaniment
- Presentations for a small audience
- Job interviews and media interviews
Equipment for Simultaneous Interpretation
Standard equipment includes:
- Booth — stationary or mobile (ISO 4043), sound insulation from 25 dB
- Interpreter console — with volume control, channel selection, mute button
- Receivers for listeners — infrared (for confidential events) or radio (for large venues)
- Headphones — individual sets with hygienic covers
- Microphones — for speakers and moderators
Equipment rental — from 25,000 ₽/day (for 100 receivers). We work with trusted technical partners and ensure full setup 2 hours before the event.

How to Prepare for an Event with Simultaneous Interpretation
- Provide materials in advance — presentations, speech abstracts, terminology lists. Interpreters need at least 3 business days to prepare.
- Coordinate technical setup — we'll conduct a venue inspection or request a technical rider.
- Hold a briefing — a 30-minute call with interpreters the day before the event improves quality by 30%.
- Schedule breaks — for the audience and interpreters (every 1.5–2 hours).
In 2024–2025, we provided simultaneous interpretation at more than 40 events: SPIEF, industry conferences, corporate forums. Request a quote for your event — we'll respond within 2 hours.
